www.la-heiress.com

It can be pretty dicey knowing if a planner is the right fit for you, but hopefully with these few points of mine, you will have more clarity by the time you are done reading this article.

What you don’t want in your wedding planner

As important as getting a wedding planner for your big day is, finding and choosing the right planner for you is even more important in ensuring that both the planning process and your peace of mind are intact by the end of your wedding day.

You don’t want a planner who won’t put into consideration the things that you want for your big day, or a planner who forces you to spend above your budget when it’s totally unnecessary… Neither do you want a planner who isn’t open to different vendor options.

You also want a planner who is reasonably available for you and not one that is too busy.

In order to find that perfect planner for you, I have put together some things to consider when choosing your wedding planner.

1. CONSIDER ALL OPTIONS

Have a variety of options, ask friends, family, colleagues around for suggestions and referrals.

Referrals for me are a great way to find a suitable planner for your big day. You get to learn from other people’s personal experiences.

2. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH

Social media is a great place to start. You can search for their online presence, check out their feedback columns and you can even reach out to some of their past clients to get a more personal feedback.

But also bear in mind that sometimes what you see on social media may not be what it is.

You can also check out their website if they have any. I personally love websites because it shows how seriously business owners take their businesses.

3. ASK A LOT OF RELEVANT QUESTIONS

It’s important to ask questions when trying to hire a wedding planner or any wedding vendor at that.

You definitely want to know a number of things too, like their work ethics for one.

4. COMFORTABLE AROUND EACH OTHER

You need to feel as free and comfortable as possible with your planner because there will be a lot of awkward and tense moments during the planning process and your planner will be the only person you would probably feel like talking to about these things.

So it is important that you feel comfortable enough around your planner. You shouldn’t feel pressured when you think about your planner.

5. HAVE A ONE ON ONE MEETING WITH THE PLANNER

Even if it is a virtual meeting (Zoom), it is advisable to have a one on one meeting with your potential planner, this way, you can feel the energies, any form of awkwardness and what not.

In the course of the meeting, you would be able to relate on a somewhat personal level. You would be able to tell if the planner has your best interest at heart.

If you feel any form of awkwardness or negative vibes, or you just feel uncomfortable talking to the planner, then I would advise that you look for another planner.

6. BE OPEN-MINDED

In as much as you are trying to be careful in choosing the best wedding planner for your big day, be open-minded about it.

Not everybody may be able to fit into your idea of the perfect wedding planner and even though you may have your high expectations of what a wedding planner should be, just dont be a closed wall about finding the right fit for you.

7. CONTRACTS

Every planner should have a binding contract that states their do’s and dont’s and all that is expected from all parties involved. It is very important to read this carefully before hiring your planner.

Ask if adjustments can be made to suit your requirements for your big day. Also ask questions where necessary and if you do not understand any aspect of the contract. Please don’t assume anything.

8. BE CAREFUL OF ALL THE WARNING SIGNS

If the planner keeps pushing down vendors or ideas down your throat, you may want to consider looking for another planner. Or if the bad reviews outweighs the good one, then you may want to stay clear off.

A good planner should always want what’s best for you and that includes considering your feelings and what you actually want for your wedding.

9. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS

Sometimes, our gut instinct is all we need. When that thing keeps tugging at you and you feel like something is just off, then it may be wise to trust your instincts.

I hope this article helps.
